I definitely wouldn't say humans are an invasive species. Humans in the vast majority of North America are an important and respectful part of the ecosystem! But then humans in the service of colonial capitalism started coming, and they're not even comparable to an invasive species, they're much worse! I grew up as one of those and am doing my best to fight against that project.
Yeah, i hear you. But for me as a neurodivergent, extremely noise sensitive person most other humans are an invasive species. And yes, i use the term a bit loosely there. They invade my headspace. The "instagram generation" has made all this "woo" and "yay" much much worse. No instant can just be enjoyed quietly. It's always "a moment" that need to be loudly broadcast to everyone around, no matter whether they are interested or not.
"I am here and I am seeing this. Look at me me me seeing and enjoying this. Woooooooo!" That is what i hear ALL the time now, and it makes me so tired. Just stfu and enjoy your stuff in quiet for once. OMG.
Sorry. I think many neurodivergent people suffer from this, so i thought it might be interesting to add. As i said, i loved reading your text, especially for someone who wasn't in the eclipse path. But that part about the howling made me cringe and reminded me, i would have hated this so much that it would have spoiled it for me.
What a great description of the eclipse. Thank you. But why the howling?
Humans are an invasive species.
I think a lot of people got excited!

Vivid description, thank you.
